After the huge success of Crazy For You, Gambler was released as second single from the Vision Quest soundtrack in October 1985. The track spent a total of 12 weeks on the UK charts, peaking at #4. It reached #10 in Australia and Belgium, and at #12 in Japan and Italy. At the request of Sire Records, the single wasn't released in the US and it never appeared on any Madonna album.
Video
The video for Gambler - directed by Harold Becker - consists entirely of images from the movie Vision Quest. Like the song, the video is faster and more dancy than Crazy For You.
Tour
This song was included only in the Virgin Tour setlist. After a costume change, Madonna came back to the stage in her black outfit with sunglasses and did an energetic performance of this groovy-rocky song.
