On April 14, 2003, this song premiered online on the website of AOL. Later that year, the song was used in a commercial for Estée Lauder's Beyond Paradise fragrance. On December 8, 2003 it was released as single, together with Nothing Fails. With both songs appearing on most formats, they were considered as a double A-side single in some territories, while charting separately in other places (like UK and Australia).
In the US and France, the Love Profusion single was released on March 16, 2004, using the cover on the left. While it peaked that same month at #1 of the Billboard Hot Dance / Club Play chart, it didn't chart in the Hot 100. It made it to #1 in Spain, #3 in Canada, #5 in Italy, #11 in the UK, and #25 in Australia. Remixes were made by Blow-Up, The Passengerz, Ralphi Rosario, Craig J. and Ray Caroll.
Video
Though Nothing Fails was pushed forward as radio single in most territories, it was only Love profusion that got a video. After shooting the Estée Lauder commercial, French director Luc Besson also shot this video in one day in October, using the same concept and visual effects as the commercial. It premiered on February 11, 2004 on AOL's First View.
It's a performance video, in which Madonna, in a simple flower dress, walks through two different dimensions: a dark city in stormy weather and a colorful dreamworld with flowers and dancing fairies. "There are a lot of special effects," Madonna said of the clip.
"I talked to things that weren't there - which is what you do when you're doing green-screen or blue-screen stuff. There's going to be a lot of fairies dancing around me. "Isn't that exciting?" she added, laughing. "I always have a lot of fairies dancing around me."
Tour
Surprisingly, Love Profusion wasn't played on the Re-Invention Tour, even though it was Madonna's most recent single. According to rumours she did rehearse the song but cut it out of the final setlist.
