Hey You
Lyrics
Hey You
Don't you give up
It's not so bad
There's still a chance for us
Hey You
Just be yourself
Don't be so shy
There's reasons why it's hard
Keep it together
You'll make it alright
Our celebration is going on tonight
Poets and prophets would envy what we do
This could be good
Hey You
Hey You
Open your heart
It's not so strange
You've got to change this time
Hey You
Remember this
None of it's real
Including the way you feel
Keep it together
We'll make it alright
Our celebration is going on tonight
Poets and prophets would envy what we do
This could be good (this could be good)
Hey You
Save your soul little sister
Save your soul little brother
Hey You
Save yourself
Don't rely on anyone else
First love yourself
Then you can love someone else
If you can change someone else
Then you have saved someone else
But you must
First love yourself
Then you can love someone else
If you can change someone else
Then you have saved someone else
But you must first
Hey You
There on the fence
You've got a choice
One day it will make sense
Hey You
First love yourself
Or if you can't
Try to love someone else
Keep it together
We'll make it alright
Our celebration is going on tonight
Poets and prophets will envy what we do
This could be good (this could be good)
Hey You
First love yourself
Then you can love someone else
If you can change someone else
Then you have saved someone else
But you must
First love yourself
Then you can love someone else
If you can change someone else
Then you have saved someone else
But you must first

Single
This is a charity single, the official theme song for Live Earth. It was first available as a free download on MSN.com on May 16, 2007. It stayed there free for a week with MSN donating $0.25 per download to the Alliance for Climate Protection.
Hey You originates from the Mirwais track Keep The Trance, recorded in 2004 with most of the lyrics coming from that demo, but uses a different melody and instrumentation, made with Pharrell Williams.
Madonna performed the song at the Live Earth concert in London on July 7, 2007. She was the closing act in the new Wembley Stadium, and she opened her 4 song set with Hey You. Dressed in a gorgeous black dress, Madonna gave a sincere rendition with a children's choir.
Video
The video consisted of a series of imagery related to Live Earth, global warming and politics. Among them were images of political leaders, of natural disasters, of starvation, but also of the good things that Mother Earth offers us and that we should cherish. The images were interspersed with parts of the lyrics, written out on the screen.
