Turn Up The Radio
Lyrics
When the world starts to get you down
And nothing seems to go your way
And the noise of the maddening crowd
Makes you feel like you're going to go insane
There's a glow of a distant light
Calling you to come outside
To feel the wind in your face and your skin
And it's here I begin my story
Turn up the radio
Turn up the radio
Don't ask me where I wanna go
We gotta turn up the radio
It was time that I opened my eyes
I'm leaving the past behind
Nothing's ever what it seems
Including this time and this crazy dream
I'm stuck like moth to a flame
I'm so tired of playing this game
I don't know how I got to this stage
Let me out of my cage cause I'm dying
To turn up the radio
Turn up the radio
Don't ask me where I wanna go
We gotta turn up the radio
Turn up the radio
Turn up the radio
Don't ask me where I wanna go
We gotta turn up the radio
I just wanna get in my car
I wanna go fast and I gotta go far
Don't ask me to explain how I feel
'Cause I don't want to say where I'm going
Turn down the noise and turn up the volume
Don't have a choice cause the temperature's pounding
If leaving this place is the last thing I do
Then I want to escape with a person just like you
Buzzing around like a moth to a flame
I'm so sick and tired of playing this game
We gotta have fun if that's all that we do
Gotta shake up the system and break all the rules
Gotta turn up the radio until the speakers blow
Turn up the radio
Turn up the radio
Don't ask me where I wanna go
We gotta turn up the radio
Turn up the radio
Turn up the radio
There's some things you don't need to know
Just let me turn up the radio
Turn up the radio
Just let me turn up the radio
Just let me turn up the radio

Single
This uptempo dance track was originally recorded by Martin Solveig with vocals by Sunday Girl. It was cut from his last album Smash and was instead used on MDNA. It soon became a fan favourite and was an obvious choice for the third single. The digital-only single with remixes by R3hab, Offer Nisim, Martin Solveig and Laidback Luke was released on August 6, 2012. Eventually it became Madonna's record-extending 43th #1 on the Hot Dance/Club Play chart.
Video
Madonna recorded the video in Florence, Italy, on the days after doing her MDNA Tour show there. Paparazzi and fans got to witness Madonna as a sexy 60s bomb shell with lots of cleavage, sitting in the back seat of a cadillac, together with some hunky dancers. Some scenes were recorded at an old gas station in Mugello, a few kilometres outside the city of Galliano. The video was directed by photographer Tom Munro. It premiered on VEVO on July 16th.
Tour
On previous tours, a compilation of Madonna's hits often preceded the Music performances. On the MDNA Tour, that honour was given to Turn Up The Radio. After the intense dance act of Give Me All Your Luvin', Madonna changes to a black punk outfit, picks up her guitar and demands the crowd to do the dancing and jumping, to which they happily oblige. She's joined on stage by Monte on guitar and Kevin on keyboards, both standing on high stage block elements. The summer tune soon turns into a great singalong.
