Madonna first talked about Veronica Electronica during a 1998 MTV interview with Kurt Loder, as she shows him the recording process for the Ray Of Light album. Veronica Electronica, named after Madonna's Catholic confirmation name, serves as an alter ego during the recording sessions. Madonna reveals that she considers the name as a title for an upcoming remix album. However, those plans are later shelved due to the overwhelming success of the Ray of Light album.
The remix project lives for years in many fan's dreams. When Madonna returns to Warner Records, the idea is revived and Veronica Electronica sees the light on July 25, 2025. The cover is a picture from the Ray Of Light era. The album contains 7 remixes from Ray Of Light tracks, as well as the demo track Gone, Gone, Gone.
The album is released on digital and streaming platforms and gets a limited edition silver vinyl pressing. In October 2025, a clear vinyl edition and a CD version are released.
