After the many cancellations due to Madonna's knee and hip injuries, it comes as no surprise that Madonna has cancelled some shows to allow herself to rest. Where the tour schedule had foreseen three shows in a row, the first of those back-to-back shows on February 4th and 11th are now cancelled in advance. Madonna made the announcement on her social media channels.
In her announcement, Madonna shares details on her recovery program, which includes up to 6 hours of re-hab per day.
A note to all my my fans: As you all know i have multiple injuries and have had to cancel shows to give myself time to recover. So as not to surprise you i want to let you know ahead of time that I will be cancelling 2 shows- on Feb 4 and Feb 11th at the Palladium in London. because doing 3 shows in a row is too much on my body and in fact my doctors insist i take a day off after every show but i believe can manage if i do 2 shows then I rest! Its a miracle i have gotten this far but a-lot has to do with the fact that i do 6 hours of re-hab every day. 3 hours before show and 3 after with multiple therapies. I have also switched to flat shoes and modified difficult. parts of the show. This has helped enormously but i still need to be careful and of course rest is the best medicine. i never want to cancel any show and Im determined that i will make it to the end if i pace myself. God Willing đđź Refunds will be automatically issued to the credit card on which tickets were ordered. I appreciate your understanding and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you!! Longtime producer Tracy Young made history Sunday night (Jan. 26)Â by becoming the first woman to win a Grammy in the best remixed recording, non classical category for her edit of Madonna's empowerment anthem "I Rise."
This was the first Grammy nomination for Young, a Miami-based producer who's worked with Madonna as a remixer and DJ since the late '90s. Young has also done official edits for a bevy of other pop royalty including Lady Gaga, BeyoncÊ and Britney Spears.
"I've seen more and more female engineers in the studio, and I think moving forward, we will continue to be recognized," Young told Billboard Dance earlier this week. "This field was and still is mostly dominated by men. But it is changing. I’ve definitely seen more women DJs, and hopefully, more women will come forward and start producing. I have hope."
While the Grammy for best remixed recording, non-classical was presented before this evening's live telecast, Young's win is a big moment for the Grammys nonetheless in a year when issues of gender inequality are swirling around the Academy and nearly every producer in the electornic music categories was male. Â

Ticketmaster UK has announced that the opening show in the London Palladium, scheduled on Monday, has been cancelled.
Unfortunately, it doesn't come as a surprise anymore, as Madonna's knee injury continues to spoil this tour. What is surprising is that Madonna's team refuses to face the facts: that Madonna should take time off to fully recover, and that the remaining tour dates in London and Paris should be cancelled. At least that would allow fans to recuperate some of the costs made to see the show.
In a statement, Madonna seems to hint she will continue anyway:
“I am deeply sorry that I have to cancel my concert scheduled for Monday January 27Â in London. Under doctors guidance I have been told to rest for a few days.Â
As you all know I have injuries that have plagued me since the beginning of the tour but I must always listen to my body and put my health first.
The last thing I want to do is disappoint my fans or compromise the integrity of my show. So I will keep going until I cannot.Â
As always â anyone who purchased a ticket will be refunded for tickets purchased that evening.”Â
The statement added that the show at the London Palladium on Wednesday 29 January will take place as scheduled.
Though Madonna was able to perform yesterday, the show for tonight was cancelled. Tomorrow's show is still scheduled to go ahead. There's no news yet whether Madonna will be able to perform her tour dates in London and Paris.
The Portuguese promoter posted the following update:
We regret to inform you that Madonna is unable to perform this evening due to pain from her ongoing injuries. Therefore the Madame X concert scheduled for tonight, January 22, at The Lisbon Coliseum is cancelled. The final Lisbon show tomorrow, Thursday, January 23rd is expected to go on as scheduled.
Refunds should be requested at the outlet where the ticket was bought from 24th january at 1pm. The tickets bought online (bol.pt, coliseulisboa.com and everythingisnew.pt) will be notified by e-mail. The Hotel Packages purchasers will be contacted by Event Travel.
We sincerely regret the disappointment to fans due to the unforeseen and last-minute changes to the schedule. We appreciate the well-wishes for Madonna's recovery.
Madonna cancelled her show in Lisbon last night (January 19) as she continues to overcome injury.
The singer is currently on her Madame X world tour in support of her June 2019 album. The tour includes a number of shows at the Coliseu dos Recreios venue in the Portuguese capital.
Last night's show was cancelled at 7pm, two and half hours ahead of her stage time. Ticketholders were emailed by the venue to inform them of the cancellation.
Madonna later apologised to her fans for the cancellation in the below Instagram post, writing: "Sorry I had to cancel tonight but I must listen to my body and rest!!"
Referencing the "white port" that she drunk on stage at a previous Lisbon gig ("got me through the rest of the show!"), Madonna added that she hoped to see her fans at the next gig tomorrow night (January 21).
"See you on Tuesday fingers crossed," she said.
Last week, Madonna shared a video showing how she was currently preparing for her live shows, captioning it: "How an injured Madame X warms up for a show⌠very carefully!"
Madonna has now cancelled eight tour dates on the 'Madame X' tour. Back in November, the singer told fans about the "overwhelming" pain that had forced her to axe three gigs in Boston.
Two dates from her New York residency were also pulled, with the venue confirming that the latter date was pulled as Madonna had been "dealing with a knee injury".
Tonight Madonna will kick off her European tour in Lisbon. And it has been reported that the show will be filmed tonight, indicating that this tour will be released afterwards! That was announced by the company Krypton International who will be filming.
Madonna and her crew returned to the Poruguese capital earlier this week, after spending New Year's Eve on holiday in the Maldives.
Tonight's show will be the first of 8 at the Coliseum in Lisbon. Madonna will also play the London Palladium and Le Grand Rex in Paris.
Artist Liam Alexander is dedicating his latest project to the Queen of Pop by turning all 14 of her major studio records (excluding soundtracks and compilations) into gorgeous comic book covers, and they're a fan's dream.
So far, he's released illustrations for Madonna, Like A Virgin, True Blue, Like A Prayer, Erotica (our personal favourite), Bedtime Stories, Ray Of Light, and just this week Music. We can't wait to see what Confessions On A Dance Floor will look like.
Each cover features nods to every song on the respective album's tracklist, ranging from the more obvious ones like a White Heat movie poster on True Blue, to tiny easter eggs like a saloon called The Anchor on Music, referencing lyrics to the song Runaway Lover.
Previous artists who have been given the comic book treatment include Kate Bush, Bjork, FKA Twigs and Tori Amos.
"I'm currently working through a roster of my favourite artists, reimagining their work in this style," Liam told GAY TIMES.
"It's my way of paying tribute to each era and I get to combine my love of music and comics. Madonna was high on my list because she's always been a huge inspiration."
Check out Liam's incredible comic covers below or on his Instagram â you can also purchase prints of the artwork here.
Madame X was a highly eclectic musical effort, and it showcased a wide variety of musical styles, genres, and melodic flavors. It was described as "stunning," and rightfully so. It illustrates Madonna's ability to constantly reinvent musically creatively and artistically. She is not afraid to be bold and vulnerable at the same time. Madame X is an exceptional work of musical art.
Her inspirational song "I Rise" is worth the price of the album alone. Other noteworthy tunes include "Extreme Occident," "Come Alive," "I Don't Search I Find," as well as "MedellĂn," her infectious collaboration with Maluma. She still possesses the voice of an angel after all of these decades, and she is a true visionary.
With Madame X, Madonna was able to once again top the Billboard 200 all-genre charts. That was her ninth career No. 1 album and it sold 95,000 units in its first week, where 90,000 of those units were pure album sales.
Madame X is available on Apple Music and on Spotify, and it is worth more than just a passing glance.
In other Madonna news, Digital Journal proclaimed her residency at the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House as the "greatest concert by a female artist in 2019."
Madonna is having a much-needed vacation with her family.
On Monday, the 61-year-old pop star shared a video of her brood enjoying themselves in the Maldives.
Madonna is seen in the clip with seven-year-old twin daughters Estere and Stelle, 13-year-old Mercy James, 14-year-old David Banda and her new boyfriend, 26-year-old Ahlamalik Williams.
The singer also shared photos and videos from her family getaway in her Instagram Stories, including snaps of her 23-year-old daughter Lourdes.
A source also told the Sun that Madonna and ex Guy Ritchie got into a row over where their son Rocco would spend the holiday.
"Things had settled down between Madonna and Guy â especially with Rocco being a bit older â but this weekend it has all kicked off again," the source claimed. "She's put her foot down and is determined that Rocco should join her and his siblings. But not everybody seems to be on board with it. Nobody is budging."
