Madonna and Jay-Z creating Youtube content

Source: Contact Music - 31 October 2011

Madonna and Jay-Z are to create their own video channels on YouTube.com as part of a new business venture to expand the website. Bosses at the video-sharing site have shelled out over $100 million (L62.5 million) to dozens of producers to create fresh new content, and as part of the deal, both superstars have signed up to lend their support. O

ther participants include actor Ashton Kutcher, Modern Family beauty Sofia Vergara, The Office star Rainn Wilson, Parks and Recreation actress Amy Poehler, former basketball star Shaquille O'Neal and skateboarding legend Tony Hawk.

Not much information has been disclosed about the various projects but veteran entertainer Madonna will serve as a partner on the dance channel DanceOn and music mogul Jay Z will produce content related to his Life + Times website. A number of the channels are set to premiere by the end of the year (11), with the rest debuting in 2012.

William Orbit confirms collaboration on new Madonna album

29 October 2011

After several hints, William Orbit has finally spilled the beans on Twitter:

"Working with Madonna is a treat. Fantastic tracks and vibes. Going deep. She's ON IT !!! This is THE album!"

This is only the second collaborator that Madonna went back to after working with other people for several musical projects. Previously she did the same with Patrick Leonard. Madonna's last collaboration with William Orbit was 3 songs on the Music album 11 years ago, although he did also provide the instrumental soundtrack of the 2007 H&M commercial and reportedly submitted demos for the Celebration project.

Recent Orbit tweets also seem to indicate that Demacio "Demo" Castellon, who worked with Madonna on Hard Candy, is also on board for the upcoming record.

More rumours on album collaborators *rumour*

28 October 2011

Following the exciting rumours about the new single earlier today, there's now also the following report from fansite Madonnatribe:

" Sources have confirmed that the producers of the new album are William Orbit, Martin Solveig and Benny Benassi adding that the sound of the record is definitely pop dance and that at this very moment nine tracks of the album are ready. Further more, the first single has already been choosen and features two vocal guests: MIA and Nicki Minaj . The song will also be presented during the SuperBowl appearance.

Photographers Mert and Marcus have been chosen to shoot the new album cover. The photoshoot is happening towards the end of the year but they have already done the campaign for her coming fragrance called Truth Or Dare (the Madonna fragrance MTribe reported a few years back is finally happening after so many delays!)

In more music news, Madonna is going to put in her W.E. movie a brand new ballad she has penned and that she performs, but we have been told that at this stage it has not yet been decided if it will also be put on the new record or will remain a WE exclusive."

Madonna to perform new single Give Me All Your Love at Superbowl? *rumour*

28 October 2011

An exciting rumour, posted by fansite Madonnarama:

"It's not official yet, but Madonnarama can exclusively reveal that the deal is ON!
Madonna will be performing five songs at next year's Super Bowl XLVI at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on February 5.

We can also reveal that she will be singing the very first single – a never-heard-before song co-produced by Martin Solveig – from her forthcoming album !

The track is called “Give me all your love” and it's a very catchy tune.

The performance is supposed to include some heavy choreography with major cheerleading action ! The cheerleaders are about to tumble, dance, jump and stunt while cheering some “M-A-D-O-N-N-A” in the stadium while she sings her new song.

Oh and that also explains one of William Orbit's recent tweet…
“I hesitate to make a comment about anything musical, y'all might think is a cryptic tease. But will say: \o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/”

Madonna will also sing four classic hits from her vast repertoire.

We can also reveal that the rumour about Lady Gaga competing with Madonna to perform at the sport event, is true, but M seems to have gotten her way.

The Super Bowl is the championship game of the National Football League (NFL), the highest level of professional American football in the United States."

Finalists selected in Smirnoff dance competition

28 October 2011

Smirnoff has announced the finalists of the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project. These dancers will show off their skills in front of Madonna herself on November 12th. The lucky winner will become one of her backup dancers on her 2012 tour.

Madonna beats Lady Gaga to perform at Super Bowl 2012

Source: The Mirror - 26 October 2011

Happy days in the Madonna household, my source says.

At the third time of trying, the Material Girl Gran has landed the biggest gig of her life – performing at the US Super Bowl.

Madge, 53, will headline the annual NFL match on February 5, following in the footsteps of the Black Eyed Peas, the Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake.

It seems Madge has snatched the coveted spot from her young rival Lady Gaga, 25.

Fresh from the London premiere of W.E., Madge is again focusing on her music.

My source says: “When Madonna heard Gaga was in the frame, she knew she had to step up her efforts. She is going to deliver the kind of show never before seen in NFL history.”

Madge 1 Gaga 0.

Madonna looks like a lady at BFI Film Festival

24 October 2011

The Sun is surprisingly positive about Madonna's red carpet appearance at the BFI Film Festival, that took place at London's Leicester Square yesterday:

"It's good to see Madonna leaving something to the imagination for a change. After years of flashing her undercarriage in pop videos, she hid the knicker giblets and focused the attention on her cleavage.

The Queen Mother of Pop showed up for the premiere of her new film W.E. last night and made a cheeky dig at her potential successor. A punter in the cinema shouted: "Who needs Lady GaGa?" Madge replied: "Lady Who?"

She admitted: "I'm more nervous than on the first night of a tour. I'm newer at this." Swept Away would make any director nervous. It was murder."

Other news articles only remember the moment where some people in the crowd booed her for not taking the time to talk to everyone.

Check Madonna's introduction speech here. At the end of the video you'll hear a fan shouting "You're gorgeous Madonna", then another "Who needs Lady Gaga?" to which Madonna cheekily replies "Lady Who?", much to the delight of the audience.

Rumoured tour itinerary surfaces

12 October 2011

The rumours on Madonna's 2012 tour are spreading fast these days. After yesterday's rumours, there's now also an itinerary that was posted by fansite DrownedMadonna. An unidentified source claims that Live Nation will announce the tour during a Beverly Hills press conference on October 31st.

The tour wouldkick off on March 31, 2012 in Auckland, New Zealand. Australia - snubbed since the 1993 Girlie Show - would get several tour dates in April. In May, Madonna would treat several Asian countries, including Thailand and Singapore, to their first live Madonna experience. There'd still be tough negociations with China on the possibility to perform there, but the government would want to control the setlist.

In June, the program would include the Middle East and Europe and finally, the tour would travel to the US and Canada in July/August. Strangely, New York is not (yet?) included in the list, neither is South America. The list also doesn't confirm all the rumoured dates that were reported yesterday.

If there's any truth in this rumour, we'll know by the end of the month. But for now, please remember nothing is confirmed.

UPDATE 1: the Singapore National Stadium, mentioned on the list, no longer exists, it was demolished in 2007. So that seems to indicate the list, or at least part of it, is fake...
UPDATE 2: Live Nation has denied the tour schedule: "As much as we would love it to be real, the Madonna article going around is a hoax."

Rumours on new tour

11 October 2011

A tour in the summer of 2012 is as good as certain, which means that Live Nation is currently scouting for locations. Our colleagues at Madonnarama have collected the following rumours.

"Madonna's upcoming album release date, April 2012, is still far away, but rumours are already talking about possible locations for her next world tour.

According to Israeli news website Ynet, talks are currently being held to bring Madonna back to Tel Aviv , Israel. According to a source associated with the international production, the requested date is April 2012.

Italian newspaper La Reppublicca reports that Madonna will perform in Milan on June 14 and should be taking place at the San Siro stadium.

Slovenian website portal 24ur talks about a possible date at Zagreb's Maksimir stadium next summer.

Spanish website Ventana Indiscreta even mentions Barcelona as a possible destination.

Last month , French magazine Paris Match said Madonna had already booked “Le Stade de France” in Paris for September 2012.

Finally we hear that a concert in Nice is planned at the Charles-Ehrmann stadium, for July 2012.

All of this are only unconfirmed rumours, but still quite exciting ones."

Rumours on new album

11 October 2011

A source of fansite DrownedMadonna claims to be in the know of the following details on Madonna's upcoming album.

"William Orbit is the 'wizard', the brain behind the new album, while the Free School , a collective of co-writers and co-producers, with Jean Baptiste Kouame as the primary songwriter, are the "tailors." Jean Baptiste was introduced to Madonna by Benny Benassi.

The new album will see extraordinary beats and sounds. The production is going to be rich, innovative, sophistacated and elaborated, in much the same way as Ray of Light previously. Besides amazing samples, the songs will see also live instruments, mainly guitars.

The lyrics are going to be deeper and elaborated. There are some Kabbalistic and spiritual topics, but I defy anyone to find them all! It's funny that after 13 years from the release of Ray of Light, Madonna and William Orbit are working on a track, whose title reminds of the universe and the sky.

Madonna's album will incorporate a variety of styles including pop, dance-pop, hip-hop and electronic music with some rock guitair riffs. The tracks will mainly consist of up-tempo and dance. Some bits have echoes of Kelis' "Acapella" and Chris Brown's "Beautiful People" in my opinion.

Some vocal effects are added to her voice, but this remains subtle and well styled, the end result won't see an excessive use of vocal editing.

They are TESTING on single tracks, the collaboration of artists like KiD CuDi , Annie Erin Clark known under the moniker St. Vincent , Nervo and others.

The new album is tentatively seeing the collaboration of producer and hip-hop beat-maker Emile Haynie , known to have previously worked with sucessful big-name artists such as Eminem, Kanye West and KiD CuDi.

Madonna has adapted finally finding a fresh and edgy sound. This album will be, once again, a new change of direction. But if with Hard Candy, to wink at the American audience, the result was not so convincing and 100% Madonna , this time we are going to have an extraordinary Madonna -brand sound which will definately be a commercial success.

William Orbit flew to New York to work on some tracks with Madonna , he then moved on to Los Angeles to work in the studio with the Free School whilst Madonna kept on working in her New York studio. Collectively they've already finished a lot of songs, about 8, but…not enough for the album. Also some of the songs that Jean Baptiste wrote for the Free School 's next album have been reworked for Madonna . Now Jean Baptiste and his group flew to New York to work with Madonna in the recording studio and finish the tracks whilst Orbit is currently working in London .The album will be finally mixed between the end of the year and the new year, in Oakland or Las Vegas. William Orbit is expected to fly to the US.

Prepare yourselves for a masterpiece, the album of the decade... something that will go down not only in Madonna 's history but also in the history of music."

Madonna to record NERVO track?

3 October 2011

Australian sister duo The Nervo Twins gushed in an interview to Allexclusivemusic.com that Madonna has expressed an interest in recording one of their songs:

"I actually have some enormous news for you. We’ve just started telling people. Madonna has expressed a great interest in recording one of our songs and William Orbit wants to produce it. That's like wow, we honestly are so lucky. We couldn’t be more excited. [...] Its funny, we speak to our parents quite a bit. We always tell them what we’re doing and who we’re working with and they don’t really know of them. I told them Madonna and they jumped for joy so we’re so excited. It’s not 100% confirmed but she has expressed an interest."

Madonna to perform at Superbowl?

Source: SBNation - 3 October 2011

Madonna will perform during the Super Bowl XLVI halftime show at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on February 5, sources close to the event told SBNation.com on Monday. A spokesperson for the NFL declined to comment.

As you'd expect for an artist with her mass appeal, this isn't the first time Madonna's been approached about performing at the Super Bowl. In 1998, it was heavily rumored  that Madonna would perform at Super Bowl XXXIII in Miami, only to have the plans fall apart before a deal could be reached. Likewise, Madonna was reportedly to headline the halftime show for Super Bowl XXXV, two years later, but  backed out at the last minute.

None of which is to say that she's a stranger to the Super Bowl spotlight. As recently as 2008, Madonna's music was used in a commercial for SunSilk hair products, for which the singer was paid $10 million, according to Rolling Stone. So where does Madonna fit in the lineage of Super Bowl halftime performers?

Let's take a look at the past 10 years.
2002 - U2
2003 - Shania Twain, No Doubt, Sting
2004 - Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake
2005 - Paul McCartney
2006 - The Rolling Stones
2007 - Prince
2008 - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
2009 - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
2010 - The Who
2011 - The Black Eyed Peas, Usher, and Slash

Now we can add Madonna to that list. For the moment, the biggest question is how much freedom she gets from the NFL. Madonna of the '80s and '90s would've been a pretty interesting experiment at the Super Bowl, as no female artist this side of Janet Jackson would've been more likely to push the envelope as far as costumes, themes, and stageplay is concerned.

After  the debacle with Janet Jackson in 2004, old school Madonna would've been far too risky for the NFL. But today's Madonna is a mom more famous for charity than lack of chastity, and a natural fit for the NFL's biggest stage, especially considering the direction the NFL's taken in the years since 2004's controversy.

The Super Bowl and its halftime show will be televised live on NBC on February 5th, 2012. Stay tuned for further comments from Madonna and/or the NFL as the news emerges.

~ Reaction from publicist Liz Rosenberg: "There is nothing to confirm or deny at this time."
